The Project of UAE Export & Industry Directory in the United Arab of Emirates is considered one of the means to accomplish the objectives of which the Dubai Export Development Corporation - EDC was founded, whereas the project aims to accomplish what follows:

1- To settle clear basics and rules to provide support to the Emirate industries through my project to back up and ensure exports and other projects that EDC put within its priorities.

2- To restrict all industrial and productive projects in the state and the address of each one of them.

3- To specify products that these projects deal with, and subsequently to provide information to local and abroad purchasers to be acquainted with their products and prospects. 

4- To prepare article, sector and geographical classifications of industrial projects; they will constitute official industrial references of the local and international production of the industry in Emirates.  

5- To publish special inventories of industrial projects and their products on the internet through the website of  EDC   “www.uaeexportdirectory.ae“.

6- To provide the opportunity for industrial projects and the supporting sectors and for the first time to subscribe to GPS system that the contractual company will adopt to prepare and publish the Directory, whereas the system will provide accurate data of the project geographical site or the activity and its closest landmark, and that’s through the satellites.

7- To introduce legislations that command exportation and industry in the Emirates State.

8- To introduce fees and customs duties in the Emirates State, in addition to customs duties of neighboring countries.

9- To state legislations concerning the applied regulations in founding industrial establishments and some of the related regulations.

10- To introduce sectors that support industry and to export in domains of banking, insurance and importers of machinery, equipment and raw materials.

11- To provide the opportunity for industrial producers and exporters to be acquainted with products that they deal with through given advertisement pages in the Directory.

Project Characteristics

Due to the extreme importance of this project to accomplish the expected targets which will pour into the interest of national products and then in the whole national economy of the state of the United Arab Emirates, preliminary information indicates that the number of industrial projects in the state of United Arab Emirates reached the level of five thousand (5000) projects, and the number of the working establishments in the supporting sectors reached one thousand five hundred (1500) establishments; therefore, a contract was signed to prepare and publish a “UAE Export & Industry Directory of the United Arab Emirates” between Dubai Export Development Corporation (EDC) and United International Marketing & Consultancy for the object that the stated company prepares and publishes the stated Directory for. 

The first party will provide all facilities to the second party through letters, meetings, seminars and press conferences whether with the concerned official parties in the state or with projects and the sector establishments concerned with the project.  The Directory will include, in addition to the electronic copy, a classification of the industrial activities and information of each industrial project with kinds of its products, and that’s through a detailed field survey that specialized agents will inspect in this field.  Moreover, industrial projects will have the opportunity to introduce their activities through pages as well as on the provided local advertisements in the Directory.  For the first time, the industrial projects and the supporting sectors will have the opportunity to subscribe to GPS system that the contractual company will use to prepare the Directory.  Consequently, accurate information will be provided concerning project address or activity as well as its nearest landmark and that’s through satellites.

Subsequently the steps that will depend on to collect facts are represented as follows:

1- To use a unified application in the Arabic and English languages to examine information from industrial establishments including the signature of the establishment’s owner and the appointed agent, subject to Department of Technical Specialization in Dubai Establishment for Export Development.

2- To prepare lists of factories according to official registers in each Emirate of the state Emirates to proceed with a survey operation.

3- To prepare in field visits to examine information according to the adopted application.

4- To use the unified customs’ code (H.S. Code) in classifying articles that factories produce in the state of Emirates, and they are obtained through the survey operation, on the condition that database information remains stored in EDC.

5- To use a unified scientific method in how to advertise articles that each factories produce while taking into consideration some inclinations of traditional establishments concerning advertisements.

6- To publish a printed Directory, whereas it is proved that ways of printed matters cannot be neglected in spite of the developed electronics obtained in different fields in addition to be on a special website of the establishment as well as on compact discs (C.D.).

7- To promote the project of  UAE Export & Industry Directory of the state of the United Arab Emirates through letters sent by the establishment to officials and to concerned sectors in addition to press conferences and scientific seminars to promote this project for an integrated marketing within the state and abroad.

How to use display information in the Directory, the following basics are followed:

1- Article classification: is intended for the obtained factory products according to customs number (H.S.Code), whereas classification of establishments producing one article will be in the same specialized case with titles of this article.          

2- Sector classification: of industrial establishment is applied according to international unified system with respect to specialized industrial sectors that are imposed by the international unified system and that’s by joining different industrial sectors in each file according to the industrial size of each sector.

3- Geographical classification: is designed for factories according to the administrative official division that the study depends on so that you may quickly reach any intended industrial establishment.

4- The Directory includes fees and customs duties in the Emirates state, in addition to tariffs in countries that the produced articles may reach in Emirates. 

5- The Directory includes a few legislations concerning the appointed regulations to set up industrial establishments with some related regulations.

Project Scope and its Duration

1-Project scope is not restricted to project Directory in Dubai Emirate in spite of the fact that the official contractual side for execution is EDC, whereas the project includes industrial projects as well as supporting sectors in all Emirates.  The Directory is not restricted to just the exporting projects, but it includes all productivity projects.  On the other hand, the project will enclose definitions of the industrial supporting sectors that are banks, transport, and insurance in addition to Importers of Machinary, Equipment, and Raw Materials.  Then the objective is to accomplish the specifications and exchanging data among all these parts through the pages of the Directory. 

2- Duration of the first edition: Fifteen months starts on October 1st, 2007 and terminates at the end of February, 2009 whereas printing operations and Directory distribution will be accomplished.  Both months of October and November of year 2007 are considered a preparatory period for the requirements of establishing a company and for those working in the project.  Project executive works start on March 1st,  2008 according to a temporary executive list on the condition to be followed with two copies as follows:

and the third edition in late 2012
